  • Annual Report for 2010 - 2011 season

    annual report 2010 11

    • Congratulations to both our Vikings crews. Fantastic effort with the Men's crew making history by winning all legs of the George Bass Surf Boat Marathon for the second year running. The Ladies also put in a terrific performance, just being pipped for second place. These results are not only a testament to the skills of the rowers but also the great effort put in by the support crew - well done team

    • Goodbye - Sadly this week we farewelled Sue and Richard Hermens from the club. Sue has been a tower of strength at any club event, whilst behind the scenes she has been busy entering all our information into the National database. Similarly, Richard has served the club with distinction as our President and Vice President of the Far South Coast Branch. Moruya SLSC events will not be the same again, as Sue and Richard either participated or were responsible in the organisation of the event. With work and family commitments, they are relocating to Newcastle and we wish them every success. For the remainder of the season, Mike Hallahan will fill the position of President while we are looking for a Vice President and a Registrar.
    • Thankyou - A big thankyou to all our members and friends who assisted with the George Bass, Rodeo BBQ and Narooma Cup carparking. All events were a huge success for the club and a direct result of your assistance.
    • Constitution help needed - With changes to the Incorporation Act it is now time for the club to look at our constitution and bring it into line with this Act while at the same time checking relevance and compliance with the State and National Constitutions. We are looking for interested members to join a sub-committee working towards a new Constitution. If you have some expertise in this area or are interested in joining the sub-committee please call Mike Hallahan on 44744046.
    • Special Nippers -  This season Moruya SLSC will be introducing a new programme on a Saturday afternoon, called Special Nippers. The programme with start on Saturday 3 March and run through to Easter. The programme is aimed at children and teenagers with a disability providing an introduction to beach activities with some limited surf play. If you have a child that may be interested in this activity please call Mike Hallahan on 44744046 to register your interest.

  • Training - If you are interested in gaining your Bronze, IRB Crewmans or Drivers qualifications or any other awards, please contact our Chief Training Officer - Marco Cardinale at the club to have your name included in the upcoming training.
  • ATV Operation - Just a reminder to members that only accredited drivers are to operate the ATV - Rhino. Seat belts should be worn at all times. People are not to be transported in the rear bin. The vehicle is registered to be used in emergency situations on the road, however general use is restricted to the main beach only - excursions to Shelly Beach is not permitted. Similary the vehicle should only be used in the tidal zone of the beach and should never be taken into the dunal area. The vehicle should be washed thoroughly with fresh water at the end of each day.
